THERE ARE MANY CHOICES

Even if you choose not to pursue the quiz path described earlier, it is my intention that while reading this book you will be exposed to many beliefs and ideas that in this culture directly cause discomfort and angst. The choice will be yours whether you change any unhappy beliefs that you possess. But first you must see that there is a choice.

Today your optimum therapy might focus on body, emotions, thinking or spirituality.

When the world was considered flat, there was no choice. It was "obviously" the truth. Just look at the flat horizon! When the idea was then raised about the world being round, there was instant rejection by all those who "knew better". Over time, however, the arguments for roundness were more persuasive and beliefs changed. This is the same process that may happen when you meet one of my "wrong" (or blasphemous) pronouncements. Your worst response may be instant rejection, for then you may never see if it might have an inkling of truth or be preferable for you. Your best response would be to acknowledge there are at least two choices, your way and my way. That is the first step of changing, to realize (without beating ourselves up in any way) that there is another alternative to our unhappy upset responses.
