THAT IMPOSSIBLE BOSS/ COMMITTEE
The following excerpt is from the self help
psychology book, Be Your Own Therapist.
Is that boss really impossible, or is it you who need to change
your responses? Are you and your friends playing out your
childhood dramas by expecting too much from your boss? The
neurotic issue most commonly dumped on bosses is that they don't
care enough about us, the way Mommy and Daddy didn't care enough
when we were young.
Do you regularly commiserate with fellow employees about your
supervisor without accepting responsibility for the part you
play? We sometimes use authority figures in our lives the way
addicts use a fix, to avoid difficulties. We avoid our real
issues by blaming the authorities (Stage II blaming - see
Chapter 4). On the other hand, if we believed that our
unconscious selves (or God, karma, higher power, etc.) brought
such impossible people into our lives as growth opportunities,
then we would demonstrate happier and healthier responses to our
"impossible" boss.
| This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself to be a mighty one..... George Bernard Shaw

Impossible bosses usually trigger our yet-uncompleted
psychological work concerning early childhood authority figures.
There has been a strong movement to avoid all authority in
recent years - but that also avoids the authority traumas we
suffered back them. It puts them on hold and often locks us into
unsatisfying groups, jobs and committees. If we are unwilling to
grow now, then we will probably just re-experience similar
bosses in our next jobs.
